The video capture can be either a webcam or a video camera which has a "webcam mode".
The Sound Capture can be a simple microphone, which plugs into the mic jack on your computers sound card, the microphone in your video camera or a $50,000 studio setup
The computer needs a sound card with a "line-in" or mic jack (most laptops have mic jacks) and/or a firewire cable to use most video cameras and/or a USB bus to plug in a webcam.
The Internet connection needs to have at least 100mega bits upload speed, but for decent quality, you really need +250 mega bits upload speed. If you want to test your internet connection go to SpeedTest.com
Once you have the technical goodies in place, you'll need two more things
- Software to package the stream
- A Streaming Service to distribute your stream throughout the web
There is a lot of different software available for live streaming. Be careful! Some of it is seedy and crappy. We recommend SuperWebcam.com, because it is FREE and it WORKS!
For your live streaming service, there are more options every day. We recommend either Stickam.com or Ustream.tv. Both are fast growing communities with excellent streaming service, but Stickam.com is bigger while Ustream.tv is a bit more high class.
